adam_estesMy name is Adam Estes, I was recently promoted to the position of Chief of Police for the City of Trinidad Police Department. I was the Patrol/Code Enforcement Officer for the City prior to being appointed as Chief of Police.

I am 39 with 6 kids, 5 boys and 1 girl, I also am engaged to be married in June and my fiancé has a daughter as well. I have been in Law Enforcement for almost 11 years, starting my career in Chandler under then Chief of Police Ron Reeves. While at Chandler I became Code Enforcement Certified, Patrol Sergeant, and Administrative Sergeant. I worked in Chandler from 2008 till the end of 2014.

In 2015 I was hired by Chief Stewart Newby at Trinity Valley Community College where I insured that safety and security of both the students and staff. I was eventually promoted to Investigator which was a Sergeants position, where I investigated all types of cases from criminal cases to administrative cases. I worked for Trinity Valley Community College from 2015-2018.

I want to start out by thanking the City for giving this opportunity and trusting in me to lead this fine department into the future. I also want the citizens of Trinidad to know that my door is always open. If you have any complaints, questions, concerns, or compliments about the department as a whole or the individual officers please do not hesitate to call me or come up to City Hall and talk to me in person about your concerns. I take all of the citizens of Trinidad’s concerns very seriously. I believe that over time everyone will see that this department is dedicated to the citizens of this city and that hopefully the trust that was once lost will be re-gained again.

As part of my plan as Chief, I am looking to bring in 3-4 more reserve officers over the next year, in hopes of providing the city and the citizens with more coverage and security. I want to have some public gathering ie: block parties, movie in the park, etc.. I want to bring our community and police department closer as a family, and a city.

For those who are new to the City we have 5 Peace Officers on commission, myself and Officer Brett Southard (full time), and 3 reserve officers. In the next upcoming weeks, I will be introducing them to everyone with a brief bio and photo on the city’s web page and on our face book. I also encourage everyone to get on Facebook and like our FB page Trinidad Texas Police Department. It is a good way to see what is happening with the department, or what is going on in the City or surrounding area. We also have a website that has a lot of good information on it and it can be found at www.trinidadtexas.com, the city along with myself will occasionally post different articles or items that you as citizens may find helpful. For example there have been several new City Ordinances approved and adopted in the last couple of months. One was the new Recreational Vehicle Ordinance, and the other was the Sign Ordinance, both of those can be found under the City Ordinances tab on the City’s web page.

In closing, I look forward to meeting everyone, and look forward to what the future has in store for our City and Department.

Thank You and God Bless
